A Slow Moving Cop Sleuths on a Train - The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief - First Impressions Freebie Ryview

The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief, by Nordic Games.

It is available via Xbox 360 Games with Gold until December 15th, 2014 (that's today!).

Recommendation:

If you're a fan of point and click adventure, or if you're really into mystery, this is probably a game for you and I recommend you download it while you can today. For the rest of you, I'd say wait a day and download SSX, which will hopefully offer some nice sports action.

A Very Pretty, Bug Addled Mess - Halo: The Master Chief Collection Ryview

Halo: The Master Chief Collection, by 343 Industries.

My Rycommendation (How have I not already been adding that "y"?): The games are solid, and I love Halo. And Halo 2 has never looked so amazing. But the UI is littered with bugs, transition problems, and a dead multiplayer. I'd still recommend buying it but there's no rush until the Halo 5 beta comes out (if that works!).

Shut Up And Take My Money! - DLC in Gaming

Hi Everybody!

It's a bit of a hot topic right now, and with current Mario Kart 8 and Destiny DLC packs either landing or soon to land, I thought it would be fun to discuss why DLC has so many people angry and so many people draining their pocketbooks.

Ryview missing - check back later

Hi Everybody!

I actually recorded a ryview, but my audio disappeared, so with that techincal difficulty I'm afraid I won't get around to an article today.

But don't worry! I'll have my deals like normal tomorrow, and if I'm able to swing it I may try to pack an extra one this weekend, we'll see.

Or, you know, you'll see. If you check this site over the weekend. Which you should. If you want to.

Until next time,

Ryan

Oh God, I Hope I Get A Purple - Why I'm Still Playing Destiny

Hi Everybody!

I've made it to Level 20 in Destiny, which means I've started the epic journey of truth, justice, and grinding to find as many purple items as I can (2 so far...after way too many hours of gameplay). My light level is a whopping 23 and I can now do some impressive damage, but I'm a far cry away from being able to handle the daily and weekly missions without sobbing silently into a pillow.

It's my destiny to be underprepared for all of the challenges in this game. [1]

Ryviews Deal Roundup - October 30th, 2014

Hi Everybody!

So, it's been over a month since my last deal roundup.

Sorry about that.

At any rate, I'm back, and my deals today will knock your socks off (assuming they're already lose and relatively easy to knock off, such as falling off by accident while you're reading an article on the internet written by a guy who felt the need to explain this joke is a way-too-long drawn out parentheses'd section).

Meta.

 No, not that one...[1]

Anyway, here are the deals for October 30th, 2014:

Destiny Ryview - Lots of Hype, Lots of Genres

I appreciate the patience, everyone. It's been a crazy few days, and it won't let up any time soon.

But! Now you get to see what I think of Destiny! (Spoiler: I like it).

Stress and Gaming

As a video game blogger who also happens to have an entirely separate full time job, it can sometimes be hard to find some solid gaming time, especially when it's a game I've already ryviewed. So how do I manage to squeeze it all in?

The short answer is I don't...

Blurred Lines - Melding Gaming Genres (Don't Worry, No Robin Thicke Included)

It seems like every genre is now being bombarded from all sides with other genres shoehorning themselves in. Shooter RPGs, Stealth Platforms, and I assume Horror Rhythm games aren't far off.

Oh, it already happened... [1]

What does this constant melding trend mean for gaming?

Ryviewing the Headlines

Every now and then I have a day where I don't particularly feel like reading news. But that doesn't stop me from obsessively checking the pages to browse the article titles. And sometimes those titles are too goofy/stupid/insane/laughable/WTF-able to ignore.

Source: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8ZXUUi-tvFIlrBrr8AEP1kt3KvxqkiPhOFkTQ1UG7AB3epoks-42X0uyPTrfUU4iE3KOlAi-fSTIJ8YUDWtTBYSlRg4Jq2nOXLHwcXs9HIC3-JcMlQ2sduHiaonkV5cCaCpTRnPZnCA/s1600/stupid+headline.jpg
Yep.

So in a new feature called "Ryviewing the Headlines" I'll be taking a look at some astonishing headlines and talking about them, despite not reading a single one of the actual articles.

The Appeal of an Open World - Ryviews Ryport

Sorry about the short hiatus everyone! (let's be honest, there are probably about 2 people that regularly check this blog, so I'd like to thank both of you right now)

At any rate, I'm back from my short vacation and ready to entertain you with some more of my rambling, pointless thoughts about video games!

It's The Same, But Shinier - HD Remakes Ryviews Ryport

Hi Everybody!

In the era of "too many pixels to count" and all that, we seem to be afloat in a sea of HD remakes of old games. That's not really a new idea, because classic movies have been remade since the invention of the word "profit" (and, you know, the invention of the movie), but it seems like we're getting an unusually large amount of them lately.

It's the same, but this time you're paying money to play it again.

Is that a problem? Probably not. But is it bad for trying to get people to play new games? Maybe.
