Shadowscape --- Ryview #4

Ryview #4 is Shadowscape by Disciple.

Shadowscape is another puzzle platformer.

It has a pretty cool art style, very dark, minimalist.

The controls are fairly straightforward and easy, and the mechanic is very simple. You jump around to get to the door. There are spikes and moving blocks. And sometimes you have to collect a moving block to unlock the door.

There is a nice little idea about your lives and health though. When you move, you generate more lives. And if you take too long on a level, you start losing lives. It's a pretty neat little way to motivate you to solve the puzzle quickly. I didn't run into any issues with the number of lives, but it was still a fancy way to keep you on your toes.

As the game progesses, the platforming gets harder and harder, throwing in a few more things to avoid, a few more scenery pieces with different effects. But the core gameplay remains unchanged.

I'd say the art style is the real draw. And if you like standard 2D platforming, this is a strong candidate.
