Icycle --- Flash Ryview

Icycle, by Damp Gnat.

Icycle is kind of a racing puzzle game, where you're riding a bicycle through an icy landscape and you have to find out (sometimes through patience, sometimes through trial and error) how to get from the left side to the right side. It was certainly a hard sale for me, I didn't think it would be a very good game when I picked it up.

I was happily incorrect.

This was a phenomenal puzzle game. It was short and sweet, which can obviously be a good or bad thing, but I think it was a very good length for what it was. It was a unique experience and it has strong replay value if you care to get the collectibles.

You really have to wonder how he deals with the chafing

The art style was also very interesting. It varied between lots of stark white contrasting with bright colors to strange lines of objects peppering the screen.

Nuclear Winter? More like Nuclear Winner...haha...aww

The mechanics were very simple, you moved with the arrow keys, basically just accelerating and jumping, although later levels introduced some other movement mechanics. And that meant that the core gameplay would have gotten stale had it not been for excellent level design to keep the experience fresh. And the collectible bubbles were positioned in such a way that most of them are obtained in a normal playthrough, which honestly heightened my desire to go back through to see if I could pick up the stragglers. I think that was well done.

Over all, the game delivered a fun, very unique experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone. It's definitely worth playing through the first few levels if only to experience the last half of the game.
