Remember when I did that Pros and cons list for China?
No? Who cares! This one's about Canada.
Anywho, let's get rolling!
Pro: Driving here is like driving in the states
The cars are similar, the roads are similar, and all the signs are in English (here in Alberta, anyway). Honestly, I have an easier time navigating here than I do in some states (*cough* California *cough*). Plus, the rental car I got was almost identical to my actual home car, so that's a bonus. It meant I knew where to find the headlights, mirror adjusters, etc, so hooray!
Con: Driving here is like driving in the states
Seriously, why is that truck going 90 miles an hour? (oh, I'm sorry, 145 kilometers per hour). And how is there construction on every single highway? I've been coming here pretty much every year for the past several of them, and the same roads are under construction. What is this, Houston?
I can't decide if he wants me to slow down or if I just entered a drag race [1]
Pro: McDonalds tastes the same here
I suppose if you aren't a big fan of McDonalds then that might be a con, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. And when you go to places like Amsterdam, they don't put ice in the cup. When you go to places like China, the fries are soggy. When you go to Japan, it's all covered in raw fish.
Okay, I made that last one up, but it still seemed a little off in Japan.
But in Canada, it tastes normal (albeit in smaller sizes than the US, generally).
Con: Everything except the ketchup
That tastes Canadian.
Pro: They have numerous pizza delivery places
Sometimes after a long day of work, it's nice to have food delivered to my frail, lazy body. So I appreciate having pizza places that will deliver. And most of the american chains are around, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Dominoes. Plus a few other more...Canadian brands. But it's cool though. You can always ask for the Poutine on the side.

Con: Dominos still uses their old recipe
For those of us in the states, Dominoes made a statement awhile ago: "We know our pizza tastes like cardboard, he's something with flavor". And while I love that old style when I was 12 (and had no taste buds, apparently), now it legitimately tastes like someone threw some pepperoni on the amazon box they just received with their copy of The Force Awakens.
The new recipe is a garlicky heaven, I want that.
Pro: It's not snowing this time
Last time it was snowing. In May. That does not compute for a Houstonian. May? Really? That's when we break out the slip-n-slides and the pool-n-pools.
Con: It's still pretty cold
I have to do some work during night shift, and when it's windy, the chill still gets below freezing. I don't know about you, but I prefer my chills to be from Halloween or involved in some sort of five alarm setting.
That was a chili joke.
Canada. Am I right?
Until next time,
Ryan
